Q: What makes ZT amps different from other amps?
A: ZT amps defy your eyes and amaze your ears. Built for tone, they are the smallest amps around that are fully professional and capable of reaching the output levels needed for live performance.
Q: How do ZT amps do what they do?
A: ZT amps employ proprietary acoustical and signal processing technology to maximize output capability while creating great tone. The detailed technical and sonic properties of the cabinet, speaker, power supply and power amplifier work together to create a synergistic result that is beyond any one component.
Q: What is your company philosophy?
A: Our heroes are the people who made amps that have stood the test of time: simple, obviously better, reliable and full of character. Our amps are solidly engineered to try and outperform the competition in meaningful ways, and we sell them for a fair price. We don't believe in magic audio potions or sonic hype, and we aim to be BS-free.
Q: What kind of controls do you provide?
A: Our philosophy is to keep it simple. This makes it easy to find your sound, and dial it in each time you play. We provide volume, tone and reverb. There is also a continuously variable gain knob, so that you can set the amount of preamp overdrive.
Q: Is the Lunchbox really 200W?
A: Because of its high quality power supply and output stage, the output power of the Lunchbox peaks above 200W. This gives the amp excellent dynamics and very high sound level. Continuous electrical signal power is in the range of 120W.
Q: How are these output levels achieved with a 6.5" driver?
A: Years of research went into our technology. The speaker itself is very advanced and custom made. The speaker works hand-in-hand with a signal path which is exactly tailored to its response. This provides high output, warm tone and excellent reliability.
Q: I like Brand X speakers. Can I swap?
A: No, the Lunchbox is not for amp tweakers. Everything in a Lunchbox is designed to work together in very close cooperation. A different speaker unit is not likely to sound very good, and certainly would not last very long under the power demands of the amp.
Q: I like to practice along with recordings. Can I plug my MP3 player into your amp and play along with various barely-legal downloaded tracks?
A: Yes, ZT amps have an 1/8" jack for line-level input from any source. And an adjustable headphone out, too..
Q: Can I plug my ZT amp into a 4x12 cabinet?
A: Sure. ZT amps have a ¼" TRS output that you can run into any passive speaker cabinet of 8Ω or more, whether it's one of ours, or another brand. (Note: This output is fully balanced and bridged. It should be run only to an external cabinet, and should not be grounded.)
Q: I play in a couple of bands and need to handle a wide range of material. Can ZT amps really cover it all?
A: We build our amps for players, and we know musicians need some flexibility. We've designed ZT amps to sound great no matter what type of music you want to use them for. They let you hear your guitar and fingers, and do not have a distinct "metal" sound, or "jazz" sound, or "vintage" sound. But, they are really happy to have you to plug in whatever guitar and EFX you like..
Q: What happens if my ZT amp is sitting on a stool and I knock it off and it stops working?
A: That must have been one tall stool, since ZT amps are built tough! At first, it is normal to be very sad and wish you had been more careful. Then you should contact your dealer or ZT directly to arrange a return & repair of your amp as detailed on the Technical Support page on our website. Please don't return an amp to us unless you have a Return Authorization, ("RA") number.
Q: Is there room inside the Lunchbox to fit my lunch?
A: No. The Lunchbox 2 is full of electronic components and a little bit of air. But if you want to send your lunch to us, we'll see what we can do.
